The fox fell into the well and sat there involuntarily, because she could not get out. The goat, who wanted a drink, went to that well, noticed a fox in it and asked her if the water was good. The fox, delighted at the happy occasion, began to praise the water - it was so good! - and call the goat down. The goat jumped down, smelling nothing but thirst; he drank some water and began to think with the fox how they could get out. Then the fox said that she had a good idea how to save both of them: “You lean your front legs against the wall and tilt your horns, and I will run up your back and pull you out.” And the goat readily accepted her offer; and the fox jumped on his sacrum, ran up his back, leaned on his horns, and so found himself near the very mouth of the well: he climbed out and walked away. The goat began to scold her because she had violated their agreement; and the fox turned around and said: “Oh, you! If you had as much intelligence in your head as there are hairs in your beard, then before you enter, you would think about how to get out.”
