A fox is walking along the seashore, and eiders are swinging on an ice floe.
- Take me, I want to swing too! - says the fox.
“You can’t swing on the waves,” the eiders answer, “the ice floe is small, it will break, we will rise and fly away, and you will fall into the sea and drown.”
The eiders swam on the ice floe, and the fox moved on. She walked around the cape and saw seagulls swinging on an ice floe.
- Take me! - says the fox.
The seagulls took the fox onto the ice floe, and she began to swing with them on the waves. Suddenly the wind blew. The ice floe cracked and fell apart. The seagulls rose and flew away. And the fox fell into the sea.
Somehow she swam to the shore, dried herself and went into the tundra.
She met a bear. We stood there and went together. They walk and talk.
-What are you afraid of? - the fox asked the bear.
— I'm afraid of partridges when they flapping their wings near my ear.
- Don't be afraid, I'll catch them! - said the fox.
-What are you afraid of? - the bear asked the fox.
- I'm afraid of man!
“Don’t be afraid,” says the bear. - I'll eat it.
- OK! - said the fox. “You go eat a man, and I’ll go catch partridges.”
The fox went to the tundra to catch partridges, and the bear went to the camp. Before he even had time to approach the man, he shot an arrow at the bear and wounded him. The bear pressed his paw over the wound and ran into the tundra.
And the fox caught partridges, hung them on his neck and comes towards him.
-Can you heal? - asked the bear.
“I can,” the fox answers, “just light a bigger fire.” The fox eats partridges, and the bear makes a fire. The fox began to treat the bear. I heated the stones red-hot and placed them on the wound.
- Is it easier for you?
“It’s easier,” says the bear, but because of the pain he doesn’t understand what he’s saying.
And the fox sits, looks, and says to itself: “Now I will have a lot of meat!” Now I’ll have a lot of meat!”
- What are you saying? - asks the bear.
- Yes, what you heard: now I will have a lot of meat.
The bear is towards the fox, and she is to the side! And so the bear disappeared.
