Found a scythe on a stone

One greedy fist hated to death to feed his farm laborers. When it’s time to have lunch, everyone from the house brings bundles and jugs, but with him everything is not like with people: either the cow knocked over the milk pan, or the bread burned in the oven.

And when the neighbors sit down in the cold, the fist says to the farmhand:

“Let’s also rest, Jonas, while everyone has lunch.” Let people think that you and I eat too.

And so every day.

The hungry farmhand began to think about how he could wean his stingy owner from such a habit. And then one day the neighbors were having lunch, relaxing, and the farmhand grabbed his scythe and got up from his place.

“Why sit around in vain,” he says, “let’s get to work!”

Whether you like it or not, the owner had to climb into this hell. And behind them other mowers stood up. The fist went first, and the farm laborer followed him, and he walked so fast that he almost stepped on the owner’s heels.

The fist begged:

“Don’t be in such a hurry, Jonas, otherwise you’ll cut off my heels!”

But the farm laborer still doesn’t calm down. The owner looked around, and Jonas wasn’t even touching the grass, he was just waving his scythe.

-What are you doing, Jonas? - asks the owner.

“Let’s wave our scythes, master, while everyone is working,” says the farmhand. “Let people think that we are mowing too.”
