Once upon a time there lived a learned man. He devoted his entire life to the search for knowledge, and read a great variety of books, among which were very rare books dedicated to secret knowledge. And then one day this man was walking along the river bank in thought.
Suddenly, a loud voice coming from the river interrupted his thoughts. He listened and heard someone shouting:
- A ya ha! A ya ha! A ya ha!
- Oh, this is the sacred formula for walking on water! - the scientist said to himself. — I remember I read it in an ancient, very secret book. But this person is engaged in a useless activity because he pronounces the formula incorrectly. Instead of saying "ya ha", he says "a ya ha".
After thinking a little, the scientist decided that, as a more knowledgeable, attentive and diligent person, he was obliged to teach this unfortunate man, who, although, apparently, was deprived of the opportunity to receive the correct instruction, nevertheless, with all his might, apparently, was trying to bring himself into harmony with the power in these sounds.
So, he hired a boat and sailed to the island from which the voice came.
On the island, in a hut, he saw a Sufi, from time to time loudly repeating, still incorrectly, the initiatory formula.
“My friend,” the scientist turned to him, “you are pronouncing the sacred phrase incorrectly.” It is my duty to tell you about this, for both the one who gives advice and the one who follows the advice acquire merit.
And he told him how to pronounce the call.
“Oh, thank you, good man,” replied the Sufi. “You are very kind to me, you specifically crossed to the other side to tell me the correct formula.” I'm very, very grateful to you.
The satisfied scientist got into the boat and set off on his way back, rejoicing that he had done a good deed. For some time not a sound was heard from the hut, but the scientist was sure that his efforts were not in vain.
And suddenly he heard the hesitant “a ya ha” of the Sufi, who again began to pronounce the sounds of invocation in the old way. The scientist began to reflect on how stubborn people really are, how hardened they were in their delusions, but suddenly he heard a strange splash behind him. He turned around and froze in amazement: a Sufi was running towards him straight across the water, like dry land. The scientist stopped rowing and, as if spellbound, could not take his eyes off him.
Running up to the boat, the Sufi said:
- Good man, forgive me for keeping you, but could you explain to me again how this formula should be pronounced according to all the rules? I didn't remember anything.
