One philosopher had a daughter. Two people wooed her: a poor one and a rich one. The philosopher married his daughter to a poor man. When asked why he did this, the philosopher replied:

“The rich groom is stupid, and I fear that he will soon become poor.” The poor groom is smart, and I hope that in time he will become rich.
