The Sufi teacher Isa ibn Abdulwahab al-Hindi held long private conversations for many years in which he touched on a wide variety of issues. Among other things, we talked about the nature and nature of the manifestation of human strengths and weaknesses.

One day a certain respected sheikh came to him and said: “My heart is very heavy, because I was told that on many occasions you spoke critically of me.”

Jesus said: “Indeed, I have said twenty times that there is often a discrepancy between your words and actions, can you doubt the veracity of this?”

The Sheikh said: “I would be glad to hear on what grounds you came to such a depressing conclusion?”

Isa remarked: “You will learn about them at the same moment when you hear about two hundred cases in which I praised you in front of the same people who, apparently, for the sake of justice, are now internally trying to quarrel between us. Reporting only one half of something is worse than reporting nothing at all. To report one tenth of something is tantamount to false libel.”
