Feast of the Padishah

Feast of the Padishah
Enlight

One padishah had a wise and faithful vizier. For many years, the vizier helped the padishah in all state and personal affairs. And the padishah valued the vizier, rewarding him according to his deserts.

One day the padishah started a feast, to which all the palace nobility and foreign guests were invited. But the vizier did not receive an invitation. At first the vizier thought that the messengers were simply delayed, then he began to think that the padishah had forgotten, but that he would remember and send him an invitation. But nothing happened. Then the vizier thought that he had fallen out of favor, that he had given bad advice to the padishah, for which he was punished. He went through all the events of the last days in his memory, trying to find the reason for his disfavor.

And now the feast had already begun, everyone left, but the vizier remained at home. And he thought: “That’s it, serve the padishah! How many years did I give him! And now everyone is feasting, and I am sitting alone. Everyone will see that I am not at the feast and will understand that I have fallen out of favor!”

The feast is over. The next day the vizier received orders to come to the palace. He wandered with his head down, expecting the worst - imprisonment or the death penalty.

He entered the padishah and saw: laid tables, expensive wines, delicious dishes, beautiful dancers. The vizier stopped at the entrance in bewilderment.

“And now, my friend,” said the padishah, “the feast is for you alone!”
