It so happened that mysterious stories happened in one village. As soon as someone was about to get married, his bride disappeared on the wedding day. And everything was very simple. It was with the onset of night that the terrible and powerful Sisimika the villain came down from the neighboring mountain and dragged away another girl to his cave, deep into the mountain, where no one dared to get through.
The surrounding suitors were horrified and sad: because of fear of Sisimika, no one risked marrying them anymore.
But then there was a brave man who decided to have a wedding. His name was Juan the Brave. And again at night he raided the village of Sisimika and kidnapped the bride from a brave young man. But it was not for nothing that Juan the Brave was a daredevil: he decided to go to the mountains to take revenge on the villain and save all the kidnapped girls. Having called for help several suitors from his village who had previously been offended by Sisimika, Juan boldly went to the mountains in search of the villain’s cave.
Along the way, he was alternately joined by volunteer assistants in the fight against Sisimika: the fast-winged Eagle, the furious Puma, the jumping Jaguar and the small Agouti Hare. Everyone knew that the mighty Sisimika could kill Agouti with one blow, but everyone thanked him for his courage.
They climbed deeper and deeper into deep and dark gorges - after all, the Sisimiki cave was located in the very center of the mountain.
They walked like this for a long time. But the brave souls reached the Sisimiki cave and stopped.
The eagle scouted out where the bride of Juan the Brave was, and he, without thinking twice, rushed into the cave of Sisimiki. He grabbed his girlfriend and hurried back.
But the terrible villain woke up and now there was a terrible cracking of branches. It was Sisimika who was approaching like a tornado. Then Puma bravely rushed to cross him. But she was unlucky: Sisimika attacked her and easily defeated her. An eagle, sitting on a nearby tree and watching their struggle, took off, caught up with their friends and informed the fugitives that Sisimika was catching up with them again.
Then it was Jaguar's turn. The battle began again, and again Sisimika defeated the enemy. The eagle took off again, caught up with his friends and said that the Jaguar had lost, and the villain would soon catch up with them all!
All that remained was little Agouti, who calmly promised to deal with Sisimika. He got off the armadillo, which served as his horse. The eagle again perched on a nearby tree to watch the battle. And Agouti ordered his “horse” - an armadillo - to dig nine holes in the ground and connect them with passages. He had just managed to dig an underground labyrinth for him when Sisimika himself appeared and attacked Agouti.
But it was not for nothing that he was incredibly cunning - he slipped into one hole, and jumped out of another behind Sisimika and cut off his tail with lightning speed. Sisimika roared throughout the forest and rushed to catch Agouti. But the cunning man changed his hole, jumped out of it and wounded the villain in the leg. In a rage, he climbed with his muzzle into the hole where the nimble Agouti had disappeared, and got stuck there. And the clever animal jumped out from a completely different direction.
The eagle took off, caught up with the fugitives and joyfully told them that little Agouti had defeated Sisimika!
...It was hard to believe, but Orel told how it all happened. Juan the Brave was amazed at the courage of the little animal and hugged him with gratitude. Everyone praised and congratulated Agouti.
The rest of the men immediately returned to Sisimiki’s cave and each brought out his wife - and there were several unfamiliar girls from other villages there. Since all the young people separated on the wedding day, it was decided to continue the celebration. In addition, the victory over the terrible Sisimika should have been celebrated. Needless to say, the main hero of the holiday was the brave Agouti. All the other animals - both Jaguar and Puma - gave him gifts. And one of the girls even offered herself as a wife. But the stubborn Agouti chose to remain a bachelor for the rest of his life, because he was afraid of women more than all the Sisimikas of the world combined!
