A long time ago, the following story happened to a man who was in the service of an evil and treacherous master. One day the owner sent his servant to look for Father Sun - that’s how the Sun God was affectionately called in those parts. He did not want to carry out this assignment, since he was leaving his beautiful wife and small children at home alone. But what to do: such was the will of his owner...
The poor fellow did not know and did not know that his evil master was in fact none other than the insidious werewolf-jaguar - the nagual.
He walked for a long time in the direction where he was sent, but Father Sun never met him. But then he met an old man with kind eyes on the road. He advised him not to look for Father Sun, but to stay here, light a fire for himself at night, and not go to bed on the ground, as a terrible beast would appear at night to eat the peasant.
Then the old man added that there should be three fires. You should place a log in the middle of these fires and cover it with your cloak. The Indian himself should climb a tree and hide there in its branches. At the same time, you need to get attached to the trunk so as not to fall if sleep does overwhelm you.
Grateful for the advice, the man did everything as he was told.
And then, exactly at midnight, a spotted jaguar appeared.
Indeed, it was a huge beast. The jaguar crept up to three fires and pounced on a log wrapped in a cape. But it had already caught fire, and at the same moment the jaguar burst into flames and disappeared.
Only when the sun rose did the man descend from the tree to the ground. In place of the fires, only coals were black, and not a trace remained of the jaguar.
...Then the peasant decided to return home without delay. He arrived in his native village and the first thing he saw was the owner’s house burned to the ground, so he sent him in search of Father Sun.
The peasant had already guessed why he was treacherously sent from his home. The fact is that the cunning owner decided in his absence to take away his beautiful wife from the peasant. But Father Sunshine saw the injustice that was being planned and he himself came to the man to help and save him from the jaguar. Then the peasant realized that the evil owner was the same nagual - a werewolf-jaguar, because along with the jaguar, the werewolf's house burned down. And the body of the dead owner turned out to be lying on a bed in a peasant’s house.
- When did our dead owner appear in our house? - he asked his wife.
“I don’t know that,” she answered.
However, the peasant immediately guessed that the dead body of the owner was here at the very moment when the charred jaguar disappeared.
So Father Sun saved the peasant and punished the evil and treacherous nagual werewolf.
