Finally, Marduk decided to create man and shared his plans with the wise Ea. Having gathered a council of gods, he decides to sacrifice the treacherous King and everyone agrees to this. Kingu is killed, his blood is released, from which Ea creates people and places on them the burden of serving the gods. In gratitude for all his deeds, the gods decide to build the temple of Esagil for Marduk in Babylon. Upon completion of the work, everyone gathers for a feast, during which Marduk’s bow is installed in the sky. Then Anshar, Lakhmu and Lahamu each called the Almighty by three names and advised the others to do the same.

Marduk, having heard the speech of the gods,

With my heart I decided to do something skillful,

He opened his mouth and said to Ey,

What I planned in my heart, I planned in my mind:

“I will collect the blood, bind it with bones,

I will create a creature and call it a man.

Truly I will create men.

Let them serve the gods so that they can rest.

I will change and improve God's ways:

Everyone is revered, but there will be two kinds.”

Eya answered, spoke the words,

The council added to reassure the gods:

“Let one of the brotherhood be chosen,

Let him die and people will arise!

Let the great gods gather -

One is the culprit, the other is the culprit!”

Marduk gathered the great gods,

He graciously accepted and gave instructions.

The gods listened to him respectfully.

The Lord of Speech addressed the Anunnaki:

“If your former vows are true,

Truly answer me now -

This is who planned the battle,

Stirred up Tiamat and started a battle?

Let the one who started the battle be captured,

I’ll punish him, you live peacefully!”

Igigi, the great gods, answered:

“King-deity-of-heaven-and-earth”,

To God's Counselor, my Master:

“It was Kingu who arranged the battle,

He stirred up Tiamat and started a battle!”

They tied him up and dragged him to Eya.

They declared him guilty and the blood was shed.

He created people on this blood,

He gave them the burden of God, and gave rest to the gods.

How Eya, the wisest, created the human race,

Put God's burden on him!

This act is incomprehensible to reason -

According to Marduk's plan, Nudimmud fulfilled!

Then Marduk, the Lord of God, divided

All Anunnaki, below and above,

He was assigned to Anu to guard the decisions.

He posted three hundred guards in heaven.

He assigned the same share to the land.

Six hundred settled them on earth and heaven.

When he gave all the orders,

He assigned destinies to the Anunnaki of heaven and earth,

The Anunnaki opened their mouths,

The word was addressed to Marduk, the lord of the gods:

“Now, you are our lord, as you have given us liberties,

What else will there be with our gratitude to you?

Let's build an idol, let's name it!

Your bedchamber, we will spend the night in it, and we will rest in it!

We will lay the sanctuary, the place of the throne!

The day we arrive and we will rest there!”

When Marduk heard these words,

His face shone like a clear day:

“Build the Gate of God as you wish!

Lay the bricks, create an idol!”

The Anunnaki waved their shovels.

In the first year, bricks for the temple were sculpted.

At the beginning of the second year

The head of Esagila, the likeness of Apsu, was erected.

Under Apsu, a high ziggurat was built.

Anu, Enlil and Aya, as in Apsu, set up dwellings there.

In majesty Marduk sat before them,

From the foot of Esharra they looked up to the horns of the ziggurat.

When they finished Esagila,

All the Anunnaki built prayer houses for themselves

Three hundred Igigi of earth, three hundred of heaven, six hundred of Apsu, he collected them all,

Lord, in the sanctuary that became his dwelling,

He gave a feast to the gods, his fathers: “Here is Babylon -

“The Gates of God” is your home now

Rejoice in it, be glad, rejoice.”

The great gods took their places,

They arranged the cups, sat down at the feast,

When the merry holiday was over,

The sublime was created in Esagila

All the charters were appointed, all the plans,

All gods were assigned places on earth and in heaven.

Great gods - fifty of them sat down,

The seven gods of Fate have decided to make decisions.

The Lord laid his bow, his military weapon, before the gods.

The net that he created, his fathers gods saw,

We examined the bow, its shape is skillful.

They praised his handiwork,

Before the Council of the Gods he raised his bow and said to Anu,

Kissing “Truly this is my child.”

He named Anu Luk with the names “Long-Dream” - his first,

“Winner” is the second,

The third will be “Constellation Luka” - it gave a shine in the skies

Between the constellations gave him a place, among the gods, his brothers!

How Luke’s fate was assigned to Anu,

He erected a throne - the highest among the gods,

And he placed that Bow in the Council of the Gods.

The great gods gathered in Council,

Strengthened, strengthened Marduk's share -

They damned themselves,

They swore with water and oil, touching their throats:

He was given kingship over all the gods,

He was given power over the 6 gods of heaven and earth.

He called him Anshar and called him Asalluhi.

“Let us bow down obediently to the words of his mouth,

May the gods listen to his open lips,

Through thick and thin his instructions are strong,

May our avenging son be exalted,

Glorious is his power, may it have no equal

Of his brainchildren, the black-headed ones, he will truly be a shepherd

Forever and ever, may they not forget, may they name his deeds,

May his fathers establish great grain offerings,

May they take care of their churches, may they maintain them in piety,

Let incense be lit and inspire people to cast spells

Let the likeness of what he created in heaven be done on earth,

Let the blackheads learn to respect him fearfully!

Let people remember, let them cry out to God!

According to the words of his lips, let them honor the goddess!

Let them offer grain sacrifices to the deities!

Let the gods be maintained without neglect!

Let them exalt their countries, let them erect their temples!

Truly the black-headed gods will divide among themselves!

For us, no matter how many names we give him, the main thing is that he is truly our God!

Let us name fifty of his names now!

May his roads be glorious, may his deeds be equal to them!

Marduk! So his father named him Anu from birth!

He is the creator of watering places and pastures, he enriches their paddocks!

He who strikes his adversaries with his weapon-flood!

Who delivered the gods, their fathers, from misfortune!

He, the Son-Sun, shines among the gods -

In the radiance of its splendor may they walk forever!

The people he created, gave them life,

Gave them the burden of God, and the gods freedom -

Create and destroy, execute and forgive -

Truly, it is only in his power, let them look at him with respectful fear!

Marukka - oh yes, this is their god, their creator!

He who gladdens the hearts of the Anunnaki, calms the Igigi!

Marutukku is the refuge of countries, cities and peoples!

People will glorify him with this name forever!

Mertakushu - furious and reasonable, angry and generous,

With a spacious heart, with a kind liver!

Lugaldimeranki is his name, so he was named in the Council!

We exalt his spoken words above all the gods, his fathers!

He is truly the ruler over all the gods of earth and sky! Tsar!

From his orders, the gods are in fear!

Nadelugaldimeranki - this is the name we called him, he is an adviser to all the gods!

He who gave us shelter in our adversities on earth and in heaven!

He who secured the stations of all the Igigi and Anunnaki!

At this name his gods tremble and tremble in their cells!

Asalluhi is his name, which his father called Anu!

Among the gods, he is truly the wisest and most powerful!

As it sounds in his name - he is the patron spirit of countries and gods!

He who saved our abodes from destruction in mighty biathlon!

Asalluhinamtila - the god who preserves life, that’s what he was called for the second time!

For, like his own creations, he heals the slain gods!

Lord! With the bright spells of the gods, he revives the dead!

He who destroys adversaries! Let us give him praise!

Asalluhinamru is a torch, that’s what we called him for the third time!

Shining god who illuminates our paths!”

So they gave him three names each: Anshar, Lahmu and Lahamu,

And they said a word to the gods, their sons:

“We called him three names each,

Now you, like us, will name him!”

The gods rejoiced when they heard that order, and in Ubshukin they exchanged advice.

“To the warrior son, our avenger,

Now let us glorify the Name of our support!”

They sat down in the Council to bestow Fate,

Observing the ritual, give it a Name.
