Lamp at midnight, between the luminaries,
Hangs shining in the sky,
What did the enlightener approve?
In Armenian dark skies.
Even if carried without a rope
High above Aragats,
From the throne on high she
The world illuminates far away.
And a series of centuries glimmers,
Inextinguishable in the changing of days:
Holy tears burn in her -
Fragrant oil.
People's hands can't reach
To that immortal height
Even the wind can't blow her away,
To the tramp - a whirlwind of darkness.
When our wondrous land lies
Under the black darkness without end,
When sad fear languishes
Human weak hearts;
The one who is innocent, in whom there is love,
Who shines with firm faith,
Who cheerfully waits for it to flare up again
A radiant day for Armenians,
Looking at the sky, he sees
That the eternal light hung there,
Like the eye of God, from on high
Looking down at the ground!
