Once upon a time, a student came to Monk Josh, who is said to have begun studying Zen at the age of sixty, received insight at eighty, and then taught until he was one hundred and twenty years old, with a question:

- If I achieve emptiness in my mind, what should I do next?

“Throw it away,” advised Joshu.

- How can I throw away something that doesn’t exist? - the student insisted.

“If you can’t, take it with you,” answered the Teacher.
