Once upon a time there lived an elephant. He cultivated his field and fed on the harvest from it. One day a hare came to the field, collected all the harvest and wanted to carry it away. But the elephant caught the hare and said to him:
- Oh, hare, oh, robber, why are you taking away my food?
- What does food have to do with it? - answered the hare. - Look at the field first. Whose field is this?
“This is my field,” answered the elephant.
“You’re lying, elephant,” said the hare, “the field belongs to me.” Everyone knows this. Even God knows this.
“Okay,” said the elephant, “this matter will be sorted out tomorrow.”
The elephant went to collect all the animals: lions, hyenas and wild pigs. And the hare went to the monkey at night and said to her:
- Tomorrow I will sue the elephant. Go climb a tall tree. You will portray God. As soon as I say the word “god,” you say: “It’s true—the field belongs to the hare.”
Then the hare went to the termite and agreed with him about the same thing.
Early in the morning an elephant appeared, accompanied by many animals.
“Look,” he told them, “this hare was harvesting from my field.”
“This is my field,” the hare objected. - God knows that.
As soon as he said these words, a monkey from a tree shouted:
- Yes, it's true!
Everyone looked up at the tree, but saw no one there and said to each other:
- God confirmed that the field belongs to the hare.
And the termite said quietly:
- Yes, it's true.
Then the animals said to the elephant:
“The field really belongs to the hare.” And you, elephant, have nothing to do here. Go into the forest.
From then until this day, the elephant cannot stand the hare. On the contrary, the monkey and the termite are very friendly with him.
