Dog in the manger

Many people regret for others even what they themselves do not need; and although their own goods are of no use to them, they still do not allow strangers near them.

One day, in a nook full of hay, a greedy dog was lying. Bulls walked by, but she didn’t let them grab a piece of it, baring her large and sharp teeth. And the bulls said to her:

“You’re doing a bad thing if you regret something for us that you still don’t like.” After all, you yourself cannot eat hay by nature, and you don’t give it to us.

It is not easy to get rid of envy and greed. It can be subdued with difficulty, but it cannot be completely eradicated.
