One day the Rooster asked the Dog:
-Can you be friends with me? The dog replied:
- Why not, why am I worse than others? And so the rooster and the dog became friends. Once the Rooster suggested to the Dog:
“Let’s go around the world, find a suitable place and build a palace.”
The dog agreed, but only doubted how they could build the palace. She asked the rooster:
- How can we still build a palace? The rooster replied:
“Here’s how: we’ll find a suitable place, I’ll climb the tree, and you’ll climb into the hollow.” From above I will crow, and you will start barking from the hollow. We repeat this several times, and the living beings nearby will gather around us and help us.
So the friends decided and hit the road. They walked for a long time and finally climbed a large hill. The rooster looked around the area and, seeing a vast field behind the hill, said:
“We’ll build a palace on that field.”
The rooster climbed the tree, and the dog climbed into the hollow, and, as agreed, the rooster began to crow and the dog barked diligently. The fox heard their voices and quietly crept up to them. Seeing a rooster in a tree, she asked:
- What are you doing there, buddy?
- What am I doing, don’t you see, we’re building a palace...
The fox was delighted at the rooster’s words and began to ask to be included in the company. The rooster replied:
“With great pleasure, but my friend is sitting there in the hollow, let’s ask him, if he agrees, I will be very glad.”
The fox fearlessly approached the hollow, believing that there could only be poultry there, but a dog jumped out, grabbed the fox by the throat, and strangled it.
The rooster from the tree saw everything that happened, laughed and shouted to the dog:
- Well! You're happy with my idea, let's do it again. I swear many will come here.
Again the rooster began to crow and the dog began to bark. A hungry wolf was prowling nearby; hearing their voices, he crept closer. Seeing a rooster in a tree, the wolf asked him:
- What are you doing there?
“Don’t you see what I’m doing? My friend and I are building a palace.”
The wolf asked the rooster to take him for company.
The rooster replied:
- Willingly, but my comrade is sitting in the hollow, ask him, if he agrees, I won’t object.
The wolf approached the hollow and stuck its muzzle into the crevice. He decided that there could only be poultry there. But then the dog grabbed him by the throat and strangled him.
The rooster saw it all. He laughed and shouted to the dog:
“You see how well everything is going, let’s repeat my idea again.” Many more will fall for this bait.
Again the rooster began to crow and the dog began to bark. They were heard by a hunter wandering through the forest. He quietly walked up to the tree and said to the rooster:
- Rooster, I have to shoot you. The rooster was very frightened and said to the hunter:
“Okay, but first see my friend, he’s sitting downstairs in the hollow.” And then do whatever you want with me.
The hunter approached the hollow. But the dog did not dare to rush at the man with the gun, and the rooster flew from the tree and returned to its owner. The dog crawled out of the hollow and trudged after the hunter.
Thus ended the idea of the rooster and the dog to build a palace.
