Jianwu said to Liang Shu:
“I heard Jie Yu.” His speeches are fascinating, but seem unreasonable. They take you into unknown distances and make you forget about the familiar and familiar. I listened to these speeches with amazement, as if a river endlessly running into the distance was opening before my eyes. These speeches are filled with inexplicable grandeur. Oh, how far they are from human ways!
- What kind of speech is this? - asked Liang Shu.
“Far, far away on Mount Guishan,” answered Jianwu, “divine people live.” Their skin is white and pure, like icy snow, their bodies are tender, like young girls. They do not eat grain, they inhale the wind and drink the dew. They ride in cloudy chariots drawn by dragons, and on their journeys they are carried beyond the four seas. Their spirit is calm and cold, like ice, so that nothing living suffers damage and the earth gives birth in abundance. I considered these speeches crazy and did not believe them.
- Well, of course! - Liang Shu exclaimed. “You can’t admire the colors of paintings with a blind person.” With a deaf person you cannot enjoy the sounds of bells and drums. But is it only the body that is blind and deaf? Consciousness can also be blind and deaf. This just applies to you. Everything in the world is one, but people love to bring confusion and discord into the world - how can they not get bogged down in vanity? And nothing can harm those divine people. Even if there is a global flood, they will not drown. And if such heat comes that iron and stones melt and the forests on the mountain peaks dry out. For them, the great emperors Yao and Shun themselves are like dust or chaff. Will they really bother with the insignificant affairs of this world?
