One day, Dinevan and Van’s two wives settled down at a camp. Noticing the gathering clouds, they built a hut out of bark. When it started to rain, they took refuge in this hut. Dinevan, secretly from his wives, kicked one wall of the hut, knocked it down and ordered the wives to go out and put it in its place.
While his wives were putting up a wall outside, he knocked down a piece of bark from the other side of the hut. And as soon as the wives returned to the hut, they had to go out again.
This was repeated several times until the wives suspected Dinevan. Then one of them began to follow him.
And then she saw Dinevan, chuckling quietly, come up and knock down the bark that they had just put up. He laughed at the thought that his wives would again have to go out and put the bark in place in the damp and cold, while he would have dinner in the warmth and under the roof.
Then the wives decided to teach Dinevan a lesson. Each of them took a piece of bark with hot coals, and they approached Dinevan, who lay there and laughed.
“Now,” they said, “you will be as warm as we were cold,” and they poured coals on him.
Dinevan jumped up, screaming loudly in pain. He rolled on the floor, and then, burned, jumped out, and his wives remained in the hut and laughed loudly at him.
