Dialogue of Masters

During his pilgrimage, Farid had to pass through Magahar, where Kabir, the great Master and eminent poet of India, lived. His companions tried to persuade him to visit Kabir.

- Let's spend a day or two at the Saga Ashram! - they said. “We will gain a lot by listening to your conversation.” This is a God-given opportunity and we don't want to miss it!

- Well, okay, we will visit Kabir, since you ask so. But I can’t promise you a conversation,” Farid answered.

Kabir knew about Farid's approach. And Kabir's disciples also insisted on their meeting. Then Kabir sent an invitation to Farid to visit his ashram and relax.

On the appointed day, Kabir went to the village square to greet the guest. The two met! They hugged, looked into each other's eyes for a long time, and tears flowed down their cheeks. They sat down in the shade under a tree. Their students positioned themselves nearby so as not to miss a single word of wisdom. The students were waiting for this moment, preparing, anticipating pleasure. But there was no conversation. So a day passed, then a second. And now the time has come to say goodbye. The students were disappointed: the two just sat, looked at each other and laughed.

Kabir escorted the guests out of the village. They hugged and parted without saying a word to each other.

When they parted, one student asked Kabir:

- Why were you silent?

Kabir replied:

- But what to talk about? We have no questions, only answers. He, just like me, came to his source.

The students asked:

- Why were you laughing then?

Kabir replied:

- We laughed at you. As soon as we saw that one of you was losing patience, we started laughing, and this cooled you down.
