The Jews of one small Russian town were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the rabbi. His arrival was supposed to be an event of great importance for them, so they spent a lot of time composing the questions that they intended to ask this holy man.
Finally the rabbi arrived. Having met with the people waiting for him at the city hall, he felt a certain tension in the atmosphere of the meeting: everyone was eager to quickly get answers to their prepared questions.
The rabbi said nothing; he simply looked people carefully in the eyes and began humming a popular song under his breath. Soon everyone started singing along with him. Then the rabbi began to sing, and everyone sang along with him. He began to sway from side to side, dancing with measured, confident movements. The parishioners followed his example. Soon they were so captivated by the dance and dance movements that they forgot about everything else; in the crowd of dancers, everyone merged with the others, freeing themselves from the internal fragmentation that separates us from the Truth.
The dance lasted almost an hour. When the internal tension had completely dissipated, those present sat down and felt a deep calm that reigned in the room. At that moment the rabbi spoke his only words that evening:
- I hope I answered all your questions.
