This man lives in the city of Riyadh. He spent his time idly and carelessly, as if there was no place for God in his life. Throughout his entire life, he never crossed the threshold of a mosque or made a single bow before the Lord. But the Lord wanted his little daughter to be the reason for his repentance...
Narrating his story, he says: “I spent all night long in the company of my friends, carelessly wasting time and having fun until the morning. My wife, who was very righteous and God-fearing, remained at home alone, without falling asleep for a long time, waiting for my return.
Only now do I realize how unfair I was to her. No matter how much he offended her, no matter how much he tormented her, she endured everything and resigned herself to the fate that befell her.
One night, after another romp with friends, I returned home at three o’clock. My wife and daughter were sleeping. Deciding to while away the rest of the night, I quietly crept into my room and sat in front of the TV screen. I turned on the DVD and started watching the recently purchased film.
And this is at the hour when the mercy of the Lord descends to the nearest heaven, and He turns to His servants with the words: “Is there anyone who calls upon Me? I'll answer him. Is there a penitent? I will accept his repentance. Is there anyone who asks Me? I will give him what he asks."
Suddenly the door to the room opened. I saw my five-year-old daughter looking at me in surprise. After standing for a while, she blurted out indignantly: “Dad! Why aren't you ashamed? Fear Allah!!! Fear Allah!!! Fear Allah!!!”, and then closed the door and left.
I was confused, not knowing what to think. Turning off the TV, I sat, looking in surprise at the door in which she stood, and her voice echoed in my ears: “Fear Allah!!! Fear Allah!!!"
These words haunted me. I went into her bedroom, but she was fast asleep. I felt like a complete idiot. What would that mean? At that moment, from a nearby mosque, the muezzin began to call for morning prayer in his wonderful voice, driving away the night and awakening people from sleep so that they prepared to meet the Lord.
Without hesitation, I performed ablution and went to the mosque. My desire was not so much to perform namaz, but to find refuge from the haunting words that pulsated in my ears and in my head: “Fear Allah!!! Fear Allah!!!"
I stood up to pray. The imam read verses from the Koran and bowed from the waist. Then he straightened up. I repeated all this after him, but the words did not leave me: “Fear Allah!!! Fear Allah!!!"
When the imam bowed to the ground, I followed him and pressed my face to the ground. It was then that feelings came over me, and I began to cry. I don't understand how it happened, but I felt close to God.
Something unusual happened to my heart. With this cry, the veil was torn from my heart, freeing it from the shackles of unbelief and hypocrisy. It overflowed with faith and I was overcome with a feeling of sincere repentance.
After prayer I returned home. I couldn't sleep, so I went to work early in the morning. The boss was pleasantly surprised by my unusually early appearance.
He had already come to terms with the fact that I came much later and stayed late. He, of course, asked what was the reason for my early visit, and I told him what had happened the day before. He said: “Praise Allah, who did not leave you careless and gave you a daughter, who served as the reason for your taking the true path.”
After lunch I began to feel sleepy. I asked the boss to let me leave work early. Of course, meeting my daughter, who brought me back to my Lord with her words, was more important to me than rest. I wanted to talk to her and make her happy that she had changed my life.
But when I went home, I found my wife deeply upset and in tears. My heart began to pound. I asked, “What happened?” She replied: “Your daughter...” I asked: “What is my daughter”?!! Her answer was like thunder: “She died”...
My eyes grew dim, my legs gave way, and I began to sob, unable to control myself. I don’t remember how long I spent in this state. When I came to my senses and calmed down, I realized that the Lord had decided to test my faith with this grief.
Having praised Allah, I dialed my friend’s number and asked him to support me and provide help. He arrived immediately, immediately washed her, wrapped her in a shroud, and we performed a funeral prayer over her.
Then we went to the cemetery. He carried her in his arms, and she was like a doll wrapped in swaddling clothes. When we arrived, he handed her to me and said: “Say goodbye to her properly and see her off on her last journey.”
My eyes filled with tears. I kissed her. He put it in a grave and buried it. I buried the light that only managed to illuminate my life.
I ask Allah to make her my protector from the Fire. I ask that He would give the best blessings to my patient and righteous wife.
