One day, a certain bhakta (walking the path of Divine Love) wanted to cross the sea. Vibhishana, whom he approached for help, had a palm leaf on which was written the name of God. Bhakta did not know about this, Vibhishana told him:
- Take this with you and tie it to the edge of your clothes. This will give you the opportunity to cross the ocean in complete safety. But be careful not to open the sheet, because if you look inside, you will drown.
Bhakta believed his friend's words and walked across the ocean in complete safety. But, unfortunately, his constant enemy was curiosity. He wanted to see what kind of precious thing that had such power that he could walk on the waves of the ocean as if on solid ground, Vibhishana gave him. Opening it, he saw that it was a palm leaf with the name of God written on it. He thought: “Is this really all? Such a trifle thing makes it possible to walk on the waves?” As soon as this thought arose in his head, he plunged into the water and drowned.
