One noble man was possessed by an evil spirit. He was convinced that he was a cow that should be slaughtered for meat. And not a single doctor could help him. The patient refused food and became weaker every day.
Then his family turned to Master Abu Ali ibn Sina (also known as Avicenna) with a request to help the unfortunate man. Ibn Sina listened to their story and ordered them to tell the patient that the butcher would soon come and slaughter him for meat.
When the patient was informed about this, he was wildly happy and began to wait impatiently for the butcher to arrive.
And on the appointed day, Avicenna appeared before the sick man. Waving a huge knife, he shouted in a terrible voice:
- Where is she, where is this cow that I came to slaughter?
In response, the nobleman let out a delighted moo, so that the butcher knew that the cow was there. Avicenna ordered:
“Bring the cow here and tie her up well so that I can easily separate the head from the body.”
The patient was brought in and tied up as ordered.
And then the butcher swung his knife, but before striking, he felt the sides of the cow and said loudly:
- Eh, no, that won’t work! This cow is too skinny, she is not suitable for meat. She needs to be fed, she is too thin. Take her away and feed her properly. When she reaches the desired weight, I will immediately come and do my job.
After this, the patient began to willingly eat everything that was offered to him and quickly gained weight. His health improved noticeably, and, thanks to the caring care of Avicenna, he finally recovered.
