When the circus was traveling on a special train from one city to another, the lion's cage was damaged and he escaped. Then the circus director gathered all the strong men and said:

- Before you go into the night, into the jungle, to look for a lion, I will pour you a glass. For courage.

All twenty men were thoroughly recharged. The night was cold and dangerous, but Mulla Nasrudin refused.

“I’ll just take water,” he said.

- But you will need courage! - the director protested.

“At such moments,” Nasreddin explained, “I don’t need courage.” And it’s so unsafe: it’s night, you can’t see anything, and this lion... here courage can only do harm. I'd rather be cowardly and careful.
