Karimkhan, a powerful ruler, fell seriously ill. He lay in bed, and all the doctors were afraid of his terrible anger.
Finally, one of the servants, by force and threats, brought the doctor, trembling with fear, to the bed of Karimkhan, who shouted at the top of his lungs: “You are known everywhere as a good doctor. Show your skill! But don’t forget who is in front of you!”
The doctor carefully examined the patient. “Only one thing will help us,” he said, “prepare everything for the enema.” “What? Enema!” shouted the Caliph. “Who should I give an enema to?”
The caliph's terrible gaze made the doctor tremble. "To me, my lord."
The caliph ordered all this to be done with the doctor, and, lo and behold, from that moment the ruler began to recover.
And every time an illness began to torment him, he called a doctor to him and ordered him to give him an enema.
All night he sat at the patient's bedside and cried; the next morning he died, but the patient remained alive.
