Compassion

The Buddha said that there can be no awareness without compassion, just as there can be no compassion without awareness. Compassion is the inner side of mindfulness.

Having become enlightened, Buddha went home. His father was angry! All this time he had been saving up his emotions, and now the moment had come to throw them out. He began to insult his son, saying: “Why have you come now, after 12 years? You were a "deep wound" for me. You almost killed me! I've waited so long! You were not a son to me, you were an enemy!”

This went on for a long time, the Buddha was silent, there was love and great compassion in his eyes. “Why are you silent?” - the father caught himself.

Buddha said:

- First, express everything that you have accumulated in yourself over 12 years. Take your soul away! Only then will you be able to understand me. I would like to tell you one thing: you are talking to someone else, not me. The man who left your home many years ago has not returned. He died! I'm a completely new person. But first, take your soul away, your eyes are so full of anger that you can't even see me.

Gradually the father cooled down, he wiped away his tears and began to look at his son with interest. “Yes, this is a different person. Of course, the face and figure are the same, but he is not familiar to me, he is a completely new creature,” he thought to himself. He said:

-You have changed. I would like to taste what you tasted. Death is approaching, I am very old. Initiate me into the Secret! Forgive me for my anger. It's good that you came.
