One day a poor brahmana came to the court of Dhammaraja, the eldest of the Pandavas, and asked to help him celebrate his daughter’s wedding. Dhammaraja promised to give him everything he needed, but told him to come the next day. This phrase caused such rejoicing in Dhammaraja's brother Bhima that he ordered to celebrate this event throughout the kingdom: raising flags everywhere and beating drums. The king inquired about the reason for such a sudden outburst of joy, and Bhima replied:

“You just announced that you will live another day, isn’t that reason enough to celebrate when no one is even sure of the next minute?”
