One young man loved one girl very much and wanted to marry her. But now they take him to war, and he says to his beloved:

- Make sure you don’t marry someone else, I’ll be back soon, and you and I will get married.

And so that no one would know about their love, the young man called the girl Coconut Palm, and she called him Coconut Nut. They said goodbye to each other, weeping bitterly, and the young man left to go to war. Many suitors wooed the girl, but she refused everyone, still waiting for her beloved. So several years passed, and her father told her to get married: stop being picky.

There was nothing to do, I had to submit to her.

The wedding day arrived, and just on that day the young man returned from the war. He began to ask about his beloved and found out that she was getting married today. The young man was very sad and did not even eat. The Indian servant noticed this and asked why he was so sad. The young man told him his grief, and he said to him:

“Don’t be sad, my lord, trust me, I’ll arrange everything.”

And in the courtyard of the house where the girl lived, a tree grew. A young man once came under this tree to talk with his beloved. The servant told him to take cover under it and promised that the girl would certainly come there. The young man did so, and the Indian went to the bride’s house.

The place was already full of guests, the bride and groom were already dressed, and everything was ready for the wedding. They were only waiting for the priest. Then the Indian asked permission to congratulate the bride, approached her and sang:

I came to you from the war,

Is this the end of hope?

The palm tree is waiting for its nut

Where I waited once before.

Then everyone clapped their hands and shouted:

- Bravo, Indian, sing another one!

The Indian sang another verse:

Of all the tastiest drinks

Alua, I’ll tell you honestly;

The palm tree is waiting for its nut

At the same hour, in the same place.

The guests made a noise:

- Eat well, Indian! Sing some more!

The Indian was happy and sang:

- Are you happy with someone else?

Or have you forgotten about everything?

Palma, Palma, your Nut

He misses his dear one.

Then the bride jumped up - she supposedly wanted a drink - and walked out the door. She slipped quietly into the yard and ran straight to the tree where she had previously come to talk with her lover. He was the only one after her heart. She rushed into the arms of her sweetheart, and just then the priest approached: the young man had agreed with him in advance. He married the bride and groom, and they lived happily ever after.
