Once upon a time there was a cockerel and a hen, they lived, did not grieve, they cooked porridge. But something bad had to happen: one day a chicken fell into a pot of porridge. The cockerel pulled it out, hung it outside to dry, and began cooking the porridge again.
A fox ran past and dragged away a chicken. The cockerel saw this through the window, harnessed six white mice to a paper cart and rushed after the fox. A darning needle meets him:
-Can I go for a ride with you?
“It’s possible,” the cockerel answers. - Just help me get the chicken out of trouble.
The darning needle climbed into the cart, and they rushed at full speed after the fox.
There's a spider coming towards me. The spider also wanted to ride the cart.
“Well, the three of us are more fun,” the cockerel rejoiced. “Just help me get the chicken out of trouble.”
“Okay,” the spider agreed and climbed into the cart. They drive on, chasing the mice, and a cat meets them:
- Meow, meow, can I ride with you?
“Okay, sit down quickly,” the cockerel replies. “Just help me get the chicken out of trouble.”
“Okay,” the cat meowed. And they rushed on again. Brick towards you. A cart ran over; onto a brick, almost turned over.
- You scared us, you idiot! - the cockerel cried. - Don't block the road, we're in a hurry!
-Can I go with you? - asked the brick.
- The cart won’t support you, it will fall apart.
“And I’ll be careful,” the brick asks, “I’ll sit on the very edge.” And he climbed into the cart. That’s why he gave the mice work. Suddenly the spider shouted:
- A light flashes behind the trees! Isn't that where the fox lives? And this really was the fox’s hut. The cockerel is watching, the poor hen is hanging on a rope outside the door. The cockerel ran up, cut the rope and freed the chicken.
And then it got dark, the friends decided to wait out the night in the fox hut. The cockerel and the chicken climbed into the closet. The darning needle settled down in the chair, the spider in the cup. The cat climbed into the stove, the mice scurried into the bed, and the brick climbed right up to the ceiling.
The fox returns home and thinks: “Okay, I have some chicken in stock. Now I’ll eat it.” And there is no chicken outside the door! The fox was upset. “Let me,” he thinks, “let me sit in a chair and rest a little.”
As soon as she sat down, something pricked her! The fox jumped up. “I won’t sit in a chair,” he thinks, “I’d rather drink tea.” I just put my nose in the cup, and a spider jumps out! Out of fear, the fox's cup fell out of his paws and broke!
The fox decided to fan the fire in the stove, and from there ashes and coals fluttered! “I’d better go to bed,” the fox decided and stretched out on the bed. Then the mice started tickling her! The fox jumped all the way to the ceiling, and a brick came from there and crushed the robber.
The friends were glad that they had dealt with the fox, got out of their secluded places and had a feast on the mountain. And in the morning they sat on a paper cart drawn by six white mice and went home. The cockerel and the hen couldn’t stop looking at each other; all the way he crowed, and she clucked - they sang songs.
