Child and monk

Child and monk
Enlight

Once a child was playing on the shore; he collected sea water in a ladle and poured it into a bucket. A monk from a neighboring monastery passed by. He stopped and asked the child:

- What are you doing, my child?

“Hello, Holy Father,” answered the child. “I’m trying to pour the sea into this bucket.”

A wise smile appeared on the monk’s face.

“My dear child,” he said. “You must understand that you cannot pour the endless sea into a small bucket.”

The child looked at the monk with an innocent gaze and answered:

- You're probably right. But then you must understand that your mind cannot contain all of God.

...The monk moved on, becoming wiser.
