They say that once a chicken needed a needle. She ran all over the neighborhood to borrow it, but the neighbors had gone somewhere, and the chicken didn’t know what to do. Suddenly she heard a bird overhead shouting: “Kuhu! Kuhu!” It was papango.
At that time, the chicken and papango were friends, and papango agreed to lend her a needle. Unfortunately, Rakuhuwavi - that was the name of the chicken - lost it.
In the evening, papango came for a needle, but the chicken could not return it and apologized to him as best she could. The angry papango did not want to listen to anything and said that tomorrow he would come again for his needle.
The chicken and her friends spent the whole day looking for a needle and couldn’t find it. The chicken rummaged in the ground, looked under every blade of grass - the needle was gone and that was it. Papango came and in terrible anger began to demand some other thing to compensate for the loss. But the chicken, who was used to collecting, did not want to give him anything. Then papango grabbed her chicken instead of his needle and shouted:
- May all my descendants be cursed who forget about the harm done to me, make friends with the chicken and stop persecuting her children and grandchildren!
They say that from then on the chicken and papango became enemies. As the papango circles over the village, it shouts: "Filu! Kuhu! Kuhu!" He is the one who asks the chicken for a needle. If he succeeds, he steals her chickens.
And the chicken is still raking the ground with its paws and poking its nose; everyone is trying to find a needle.
