After the death of the guru, the cat continued to be tied up out of habit. When the cat was gone, another one was brought into the ashram in order to carefully follow the guru’s instructions during the time of communication with the Lord.
Centuries have passed. Scholarly followers of the guru wrote scientific works indicating that tying a cat during prayer was of particular importance for the performance of worship.
