A couple of times Mulla brought home liver. The wife treated her dear friend to liver, and in the evening she placed some kind of mash in front of Mulla. One day Mulla says to his wife:

“Listen, I’ve brought home liver several times, but I just can’t get a chance to try it.” Where does she go?

“The cat is stealing,” answered the wife.

Then Mulla stood up and hid the ax in the chest.

“Who are you hiding the ax from?” asked the wife.

“From a cat,” Mulla remarked.

The wife said in surprise:

- But why does a cat need an ax?

To this the Mulla objected:

“But wouldn’t the one who grabs a liver, which costs only two akcha, also take an ax that costs forty akcha?”

_____________*Akcha is a small change coin.
