Call Hassan

Call Hassan

Once, a certain student of a Sufi master, distinguished by his special zeal, striving to achieve an ideal result in everything, entered the teacher’s room for another assignment.

“Please call Hassan,” the mentor asked.

Going out into the courtyard of the house, the student did not see Hassan there, but he was distinguished by unparalleled vision. Also possessing a sense of purpose, he went out into the street and began to look into every teahouse, asking visitors if they had seen Hassan. Nobody could tell him anything intelligible. In complete despair, towards evening, the student took the extreme step - he shouted at the top of his lungs:

- Hasan! Hasan! Hasan!

A few seconds later, Hassan appeared from a nearby courtyard. Taking him to the teacher, the student sat on a nearby bench, reflecting on the fact that perseverance always leads to achieving the goal.

Some time later, his thoughts were interrupted by Hassan, who came out of the teacher’s room. He looked displeasedly towards the student:

“Why didn’t you call me as soon as the master ordered?!”

- I looked everywhere - you were nowhere to be found! — the student justified himself indignantly.

“My God,” Hassan exclaimed, “did the teacher ask me to look!?” No. He asked to call me, and not three times, but once!
