Brother and sister

Brother and sister
Enlight

There lived a sister and her younger brother. My brother constantly hunted animals, my sister stayed at home. This is how we lived all the time.

One day, my brother went to the taiga, and my sister was left at home alone; A red dog entered the house, jumped onto the platform and began to lick her sister. Sister says:

-What kind of dog is this? Do you want me to stab you with a knife?

Poked the dog with a knife. The dog screamed: “Oh, it hurts, why did you prick me?” Then the sister realized that she had injected the man. The dog ran out of the house. Her sister followed her out. The dog is no longer there. The sister went back into the house. Her heart suddenly ached. Moaning, screaming. Then, in an outlet, some person says:

- Prick your little finger, let the blood flow out. Through an outlet, pray to God. Then you will get well.

So she pricked her little finger and let out the blood. Then through the small hole I prayed to God. The pain was severe, and she died while riding on the bunk.

When the sun had already set and it became dark, her brother returned from the taiga. He sees that there is no smoke curling over the house. He went down to the house loaded with booty: deer and boar meat. He started shouting:

- Sister, sister! Let's put this meat in the barn.

Without waiting for an answer, he entered the house and saw: his sister was stretched out in the middle of the bunk - lying dead. Then our man began to cry. Refusing food, he cried for three days in a row. Then I thought: Why am I crying for so long, that’s enough!

He sat saddened. He brought a lot of silk into the house, covered his sister with it, and covered it up to the ceiling beam. After some time, the guardian of the house, the brownie grandfather, says:

- Son, son! Your sister was taken as a wife by the son of a heavenly man - the owner!

- Well, grandfather, how will I rise to heaven? - Son, call the flying toad, your parents are happy - call the toad.

Then this guy began to cry and call the toad. The toad entered the house through the vent.

- Co-co-co, co-co-co! Son, why did you call me?

- Let's rise to heaven together.

He sat on a toad and flew away. When they rose to the star-holes in the sky, the guardian shamans sang:

- Oh-oh, a brave man rises, he approaches on a flying toad. It's circling around the star-holes!

Then the shamans say:

“We’ll cut the toad in two with a thin saber.”

When the toad tried to fly through the star-hole, it was cut down. Then our man began to fall, began to fall into the sea. When the pieces of the toad fell into the sea, the Kenakhs immediately saved everything, only the bones turned white. Our guy fell on a sea island; Water runs there, water runs here. He began to cry:

- The patron of my parents is the flying dragon, where are you? Come help me!

Now the sea water began to rise. The water rose to my knees.

- Kudre, Kudre, son, why are you here? Come sit on me!

Our man stood up and sat on it. The flying dragon carried him. It rises to the sky. The shamans sang:

– Sitting on a dragon, a brave man rises. A dragon flies around the star-holes. Let's cut it into five pieces!

When the flying dragon flew through the hole-star, they cut it down with a thin saber and cut it into five pieces. Then the pieces of the dragon fell, fell into the sea. Kenahi, the size of a dog, devoured all the pieces at once, the bones only turning white. Our guy also fell - he fell on a sea island. Running back and forth - there is water all around - a small island. After some time, the sea water began to rise. What to do? Our guy lay down, crying, calling the seal, the patroness of his fathers. I cried for a long time; Finally, the seal landed directly opposite him on the shore.

- Why are you crying? - asks.

“Take me to the sea master,” he tells her.

Then he went down to the shore and turned into a thin needle. Entered the seal's body. It fit between her eyes. Then the seal swam. They swam for a long time, and finally, when the main sea man swam to the shore, the seal stopped. Our guy came out, took on his previous appearance, and turned into a man.

I went up to the sea master's house. He is lying on the middle bunk. Our guy entered the house and sat down at his feet. The sea owner is snoring and fast asleep. His old wife stood up.

- Old man, old man, get up! Whether a rich man has come, a poor man has come, a worker has come, get up and ask him about the news. She hit the old man on the forehead with her stick.

- Oh-oh, it hurts! Why did you wake me up?

- A guest has arrived, ask him about the news.

- Oh, it turns out the guest has arrived! Where did you go, how did you come to my house? Or was he looking for prey and entered my house? Or was the devil chasing you and you came into my house out of fear? Or did you come looking for the one who will comb your hair?

“I’m not looking for anything, no devil was going to kill me.” I’m not looking for someone who will comb my hair. My sister is barely alive in heaven. That's why I came. Help me with a flying horse, a white horse.

- Servants! Bring your guest a white horse!

Then the servants, two people, brought a horse. A flying horse has only dark eyes. Then the old host came out with the guest:

- Horse, horse! Take your guest to heaven! His sister is there, barely alive. Take him quickly!

Then the old host says to the guest:

- Well, guest, get on the horse.

Our man got on the horse. Let's go. There's just a whistling sound in my ears. This is how they pester. It took a long time to get up. When they reached the middle of the sky, the horse said to him:

- Turn into a thin needle, climb into my ear!

Our guy turned into a needle, he climbed into the care of a horse. They rise higher to the sky. The guardian shamans sing:

- Look, the white horse is rising. Count the hairs in her ponytail. If there is any extra hair, chop off the horse! If there is not enough hair, chop it too!

Other shamans answer:

- No, there is as much hair as there should be! The guardian shamans sing:

- Count the hairs of the mane.

They again answer that there is as much hair as there should be.

- Count the hairs on half the horse. Again they answer that there is enough hair. In the second half we counted, and that’s enough too.

A white horse flies around a star-hole.

– If everything is correct, let her in! - say the guardian shamans.

Then the white horse rose to heaven. Then she flew. Then she stopped and said: “Well, that’s enough, come out.”

He went down and took his skis and poles with him. I put on my skis and went. I saw the devil's trap. A big old man walks on the edge of the cauldron. The water is boiling and bubbling in the cauldron.

- Son, son! Come here. Run along the edge of this cauldron. Run around the edge of this cauldron three times. Then you will become a happy, brave man, you will become a powerful man, - this is what the old man says.

The brave man thinks: It turns out that you really want to deceive me. I'll make you run on your own. Says:

- Grandfather! You run first. I'll look at you. Then I will run like you.

- OK then. I'll go and run around the edge of the cauldron.

The old devil climbed onto the edge of the cauldron. Barely moving his legs, he walks. I walked around twice.

“Then go,” the devil says.

“Oh, so it turns out you’re walking around,” our man says.

“Then suddenly he poked the devil in the stomach with a long stick and threw him into the cauldron. The devil, spreading his arms and legs, surfaced. Dead.

Our guy moved on. He walked for a long time, and then in the middle of the road he came across two smooth-haired wolves. You can't get around them anywhere. One wolf says:

“If a brave man comes, I’ll bite him like this.”

Then the wolf jumped and bit his comrade. He grabbed it by the side, tore out a piece of meat, and ate it. Another wolf jumped, bit his comrade, tore out a piece of meat and ate it. The whole mouth is covered in blood.

“So,” they say, “we’ll bite a brave man.”

A brave man goes to them. How will you get by in your guise? - he thinks. He rolled on the ground and turned to ash. He turned into ash, rushed like a whirlwind, flew past them. Then he resumed his previous appearance. I went skiing, pushing off with two poles. It goes both day and night. He began to pass by a large rock and saw a house with smoke curling in.

- Gostyushka! Come in!

When he looked up, he saw some beautiful woman calling him. Answered her:

- No, I can’t. I must come before my sister dies.

The woman says:

- No, come here. I will ask about the news. He doesn’t listen to her, he lowers his head and pushes off with sticks, only the snow swirls behind him. So our man goes.

Then this woman gathered her hair in her hand and threw it at him. Our guy's skis were lassoed. He's being pulled back. When our man looked back, he stood very close to her. He took out his saber and cut his hair. I went again, only there was a whirlwind behind me. A few steps ahead I saw a fox. – Meo kway konoya! Brave man, if I lift my weak tail, it will carry you to the foot of the cliff. Only the living eyes will remain.

- I will cut you down with a saber! - answers. Just as our guy was about to hit the fox, the fox raised its tail. The guy was dragged by the hurricane and carried under a rock. The rock crushed him. Almost completely dead. The heart is only a little alive; the eyes remained alive. The female fox came out and said:

- Well, boy, will you marry me?

“I’ll probably die like this.” OK then. I will take you as my wife. Set me free. Revive me.

The fox freed him. I took it and brought it home. Then I fed her several times a day. After some time, he became the same as before. I lived there for one year. Then he says to his wife:

- Well, I'll go.

- If you want, go. If you are in need, call me.

He went skiing. It goes both day and night. I saw a large village from afar. Walked, walked, walked. I came to the middle of the village. I approached the elder's house. He opened the door and entered. When I entered, I looked at the opposite side. His sister is sitting opposite the window. His brother-in-law is lying next to his sister. Black in color, tall. Our man entered and stopped between two fireplaces.

Son-in-law says:

- Oh, it turns out the man has come, my brother-in-law, it turns out, has come. Well, let's play a little, then relax and talk about the news.

The son-in-law stood up and pulled out a drawer above his head. He took out one saber, it shines. He jumped to the floor. He grabbed his brother-in-law's back with a saber. Our man is crying, wrapping his armlets around his son-in-law from the back and pulling. And his son-in-law is drawn to him. The saber cut into the body of our man to the bone.

Our man's sister says about him:

- A bad person, however.

She pulled out the drawer and took out the saber. She grabbed her brother in the lower back with a saber and pulled. Both husband and wife pull. It was cut in two places: where the husband grabbed her brother with a saber and where she grabbed him with a saber. Then the son-in-law climbed onto the bunk. Says:

- I'm a good person, however. The brave man was cut.

– I’m also a good woman, however. “She cut the brave man, her younger brother,,” says his wife.

They clap each other's hands, laugh, and rejoice. Suddenly the door opens. The red fox enters. She stopped between two fires.

– Meo kway konoya! She made her younger brother cry about herself, forced her to cover herself up to the ceiling with silk. You didn’t know this until now, or what?

This is how the fox scolds his sister.

- What kind of fox is this? I even chopped up a brave man, but what are you, fox?

The sister grabbed a thin saber, jumped to the floor, and stood between two fireplaces:

“If I lift my weak tail, you will freeze with your bulging eyes.”

- Mangy fox! If I killed a brave man, then I’ll cut you with a saber too!

Her husband jumped off the bunk and stood between two fireplaces with a saber in his hands. He swung his saber at the fox. When he swung at her, the fox raised her weak tail. His eyes bulged, his arms spread out, he was so cold.

Then his wife began to scold the fox. Menacingly advancing on her, she stood up next to her husband and swung her saber. The fox raised his tail, his wife also immediately froze. Then the female fox collected the pieces of her husband, connected them to each other, and raised her tail. Her husband came to life. She scolds him.

- Ew, rubbish! And you were born a man! If I weren't there, you would have died immediately. I saved you. Well, let's throw them away.

He took his son-in-law and grabbed him by the head. Then he says:

- Turn into a thick larch and live. Grow upside down.

Then he threw it out through the vent. His son-in-law has become a thick larch, with his arms and legs spread out, growing upward with them.

He grabbed his sister by the head and threw her through the hole into the sea:

- Turn into a dolphin and leave.

His sister turned into a dolphin.

Then he and his wife left the house. The female foxes went to the village and lived there for some time.

“Well, let’s go back,” says our man.

His wife began making bird figures both day and night. Then she tied them to the barn, used an iron rod, and hit them. Each bird screamed in its own voice.

Then the husband and wife flew either close or far in the barn. We reached the village of the sea owner and stopped. Our man came to the sea master. In this village, the sky people, sea people, and Verkhovsky people began to compete with him. Our man is the strongest. Draw the bows - he is the strongest. To lift an anvil - he is the strongest. The heavenly man was second. The sea man was third. Verkhovsky's man turned out to be the weakest.

So they competed for a long time. Finally, these people were ashamed of their weakness and all left.

The sea owner gave our man his daughter as a wife and made him a treat. He gave him half of the large village. The flying horse was also bt-gave. I gave him another barn. Then they flew back to the barn with the birds. Whether they flew far or close, they finally stopped. Our man looks from the barn: they have flown to his village. He sees that his house is all crooked, like a donkey. He jumped off his barn, walked around the house, and kicked in every corner. His house has grown, become better than before. Then his wives dragged things into their house.

They lived richly, without knowing need. Our man will go down to the water and bring all kinds of fish. If he goes up into the taiga, he will kill all kinds of animals: elk, bears, and wild boars. They lived so long, grew old, and died.
