In ancient times, there was nothing strange about several generations living under one roof. Everyone usually existed in peace and harmony, but this is what happened in the house of one man, whose family, besides himself, consisted of his wife, son and elderly father. The daughter-in-law disliked her old father-in-law and complained that he constantly got under her feet.
And finally, she insisted that the man move the old man into a barn away from the house. Since the old man was now out of sight, he was often forgotten. He often remained hungry. One day his little grandson came to see him.
“Baby,” his grandfather asked him. - Bring some kind of blanket and cover me. It's cold and I'm freezing.
The boy ran home, but instead of a blanket he found a long mattress.
“Dad, please cut it in half,” he asked his father.
- For what? What are you going to do with it? I want to cover my grandfather, he is freezing! So take a whole mattress!
“No,” the boy objected. - How will I cover you when you become as old as your grandfather and are freezing?
The son's answer touched the man. He suddenly realized how badly he had treated his own father. He immediately took the old man home and began to look after him from morning to evening.
