Bogatyr Mani and Hoglen

Bogatyr Mani and Hoglen
Enlight

The long-tailed hero Hoglen stole a day on earth and ran with it across the sky. It became night on earth. Mani put on his skis, took a good bow and two large arrows and went to catch up with Hoglen.

[Mani is the name of the constellation Orion.]

I chased Hoglen Money for a long time. He threw his skis forward and left a wide trail behind him. Mani approached Hoglen, fired the first arrow at him, but missed.

Hoglen runs across the sky with the stolen fire, Mani is chasing him. They ran for a long time. Mani caught up with Hoglen, ran to the side, pulled the bowstring to his ear and stopped the elk with a well-aimed arrow.

Mani took the day from Hoglen and carried him to the ground. He walked with him towards the ground for the same amount of time as he chased Hoglen across the sky.

Since then, every evening Hoglen steals the day from the earth and runs away with it to heaven. But every time Mani gets on his skis, catches up with him exactly at midnight, crosses Hoglen’s path with arrows, takes away the elk’s day and brings him to earth.
