The river was wide - this happened during the rainy season, and the people remained safe only because the boat in which they sailed turned out to be very easy to navigate. These people must have been very intelligent, because they thought: “This merciful boat saved our lives, how can we abandon it? It would be ungrateful to leave her here alone!” So they pulled the boat out of the water, lifted it onto their shoulders and carried it into the city. It was difficult, but the feeling of gratitude encouraged people to carry the boat further and further.
- What are you doing? — a surprised passerby asked them. “This is the first time I’ve seen someone dragging a boat through the city streets.”
“We will now have to carry this amazing and beautiful boat for the rest of our lives,” they explained, “because it saved us from death, and we cannot be ungrateful.”
