Once upon a time there lived a hunter. He was a big braggart and often told tall tales.
One day he went hunting, but he was unlucky; he didn’t come across any game for a long time, and when he did, he shot, but missed.
The hunter returns to his village, his neighbors greet him. He tells them:
“There are all sorts of miracles in the world, but I saw a miracle that no one had ever dreamed of.” I climbed a steep rocky cliff, and below there were snowfalls and large streams. Suddenly I see: some huge, enormous beast is moving across the snow field. His horns are long, very long, sharp, like a dagger. If he butts you, he will cut you like a blade of grass. So what do you think? I creep up to the animal and, using a sharp knife, I cut its horns clean off.
Everyone was surprised at the hunter's courage. And one of the peasants joked:
“Should I have started with the horn, should I have cut off the head of the beast first?” Apparently you are an inexperienced hunter.
“No, I don’t agree with you,” the braggart objected. “I am a real and experienced hunter, but what is my fault if another, with a well-aimed shot before me, has already managed to lay down the beast and cut off its head.”
Everyone laughed, and the liar blushed.
