One day, pilgrims were rushing to a large monastery for a holiday. Among them were a blind man and a legless man, who moved forward with great difficulty, but suddenly stopped altogether. A stream flowed in the middle of the road. There was no bridge across it, but large stones lay everywhere, along which people deftly crossed to the other side. What was to be done? The legless man could not step from stone to stone, and the blind man could not see where to put his foot. They thought and thought, and finally decided. The blind man put the legless man on his shoulders, replacing his missing legs, and the legless man showed the blind man where to go, replacing his eyes. So they crossed the stream and were able to continue their journey to the monastery. It can be difficult for a person to cross over evil and untruth to God's Christian life. But we will succeed if we help each other, like the lame and legless one.
