There lived in our area a man named Belshazzar. One day he decided to treat all his friends. The friends were delighted, washed, put on their best clothes and went to Belshazzar’s feast with their wives and children.
Belshazzar greeted them very kindly and invited them to the table. And when the guests sat down, he served them a partridge - the only one for all.
That’s why, when there is nothing to eat at the table, we say: “Belshazzar’s feast.”
