One student of the great Abu Hafs asked him for permission to teach for a long time. Finally, the master gave his consent and sat down in the middle of the audience at the first lecture.
When the student, Abu Usman, finished, a beggar came forward, but before he could open his mouth, Abu took off his cloak and handed it to the beggar. At this the teacher jumped up and shouted:
- You are a liar! Don't even dare talk to people while you have this in you!
Confused, Abu Usman asked:
- What is “this”?
- You reward yourself and anticipate the need of a needy person by asking yourself for him.
The beggar and the student have much in common: they both must come to the stage to prepare to ask a question. And this position gives focus to the mind, which allows you to perceive correctly.
