Once upon a time there lived a man and a woman. They had a faithful dog. From a young age she guarded the house, but when old age came, she stopped lying.

The man is tired of her. So he took a rope, hooked the dog around the neck and led him into the forest. He brought him to the aspen tree and wanted to strangle him, but when he saw that the old dog was shedding bitter tears, he felt sorry for him.

The man let the dog go and went home. The dog remained in the forest. He lies hungry under a tree and curses the dog’s lot. Suddenly a bear comes: —? Why are you, dog, lying down here? —? The owner drove me away. —? And what, dog, do you want to eat? —? How hungry you are! —? Well, come with me, I’ll feed you.

So they went. They come across a stallion. The bear grabs the stallion. The stallion fell. The bear tore it up and said to the dog: “Here, eat as much as you want, and when you’ve eaten everything, come to me.” The dog lives, doesn’t worry about anything. And when she ate everything and got hungry again, she ran to the bear. —? Well, brother, did you eat the stallion? —? I ate it, I have to starve again. —? Why starve! Do you know where your women are reaping?—?I know!—?Then let’s go, I’ll sneak up to your mistress and grab the child, and you chase me and take it away. When you take it, take it to the owner. In return, she will feed you as before.

So the bear ran to the field where the women were reaping, and carried away the child. The child screamed, the women rushed after the bear, caught up, caught up, couldn’t catch up, so they turned back. The mother is crying, the women are grieving.

Out of nowhere, a dog came running, caught up with the bear, took the child away and carried him back. -? Look, - the women say, - the dog took the child away! The mother is so happy and happy. -? Now, - he says, - I will never leave this dog! Hubby, this dog needs to be taken care of and fed: she took our child away from the bear. The dog has recovered, has eaten well and is living happily ever after. He became the bear's first friend.

Once a man had a party. At that time, the bear came to visit the dog. —? Hello, dog! Well, how are you doing - are you eating bread? -? Thank God, - the dog answers, - it’s not life, but Maslenitsa! What should I treat you with? Let's go to the hut, the owners are on a spree, they won't see us. As soon as you enter, quickly crawl under the stove. Whatever I get, I’ll treat you to.

Okay, the bear climbed into the hut - under the stove. The dog sees that the guests and owners are having a lot of fun - and so he takes it off the table and treats his friend. The bear drank a glass, drank another - and took it apart. The guests started singing. And the bear began to start his song.

The dog persuades him: “Don’t sing, otherwise there will be trouble.”

Where! The bear does not subside, but begins to sing louder and louder. The guests heard a howl under the stove, grabbed stakes and began to caress the bear on its sides. The bear broke free and ran away. So I came to visit you!
