Once upon a time there lived Dia. And he had a brother Baruchiku - one-armed, one-legged. They had about ten Oleshkovs. They lived with their mother. Dia was hunting all the time, and Baruchiku was guarding the herd. One day the deer went across the river. Baruchi asks them:
- Why did you go across the river? Why did they wet the bakari?
He took a knife, cut off all the kamos from ten live deer and said:
- Now walk across the river barefoot!
Dia came in the evening. Baruchi asks him:
- Why are our deer so stupid, they don’t understand anything? So they left across the river, and the bakari got wet.
- What kind of bakari? “Deer don’t wear bakari,” Dia was surprised.
-What's on their feet?
“They don’t have bakari, but kamos.”
- I thought it was bakari. I regretted that they would get wet and cut them off.
- Well, what have you done! Why did you strip the camos? Now the deer will disappear! - said Dia and thought: “We need to leave Baruchik somewhere, otherwise he will do a lot of things if I leave for a long time.”
So they were arguing one day. Dia is walking ahead. Suddenly he saw a lake. There is a hole in the ice. Dia says:
- Baruchi, come here! There are a lot of people in the ice hole, singing and playing.
Baruchi looked and looked, stepped into the water and went to the bottom. And his brother went further.
Three days later, in the evening, Dia sees someone coming. He opened the door, and Baruchi came and brought ten large chirs. Baruchi says:
Brother, you probably sent me for fish? I brought fish.
“What kind of person is he? - Dia thinks. “How did you get out of the hole?”
Another time they argued again. We found a tall tree. Dia climbed to the top of this tree:
- Hey, Baruchi! From this tree you can see the whole earth! Oh, how interesting! Come here! Baruchi went up to his brother, and Dia grabbed him and tied him with a rope to the top of a tree.
- This is where your place will be! - He said, got down from the tree and walked on.
He walked a little and stopped. I lived in this place for three days. In the evening he sees: a man walking. I looked closer and it was Baruchi.
- My brother, you probably needed some firewood? Did you leave me to chop wood? I brought firewood for the whole year.
Dia says:
- It's you again, Baruchi! I tied you tightly with a rope! Well, okay, I won't touch you anymore. But don’t touch anything, otherwise you left me without deer!
Several days passed like this.
One day Baruchi decided to go hunting. He walked and walked and saw: a large lake, and there were many nets placed on it. Baruchi began to take out the nets. They are full of fish! Suddenly he sees someone approaching him. And this is the one-eyed giant Sihio. Sikhio came up and said:
-Who are you? Why are you taking out my nets?
- These are my old networks! - says Baruchi. - My father put them here when I was born!
- It's not true! These are my networks! I recently installed them!
“No,” says Baruchi, “these are my networks.” Let's bring the devils here and ask them! Do you have a shaitan?
“Yes,” answers Sihio.
- Tomorrow early in the morning come here with the shaitan. “I’ll come too,” says Baruchi.
In the morning he got up early and said to his mother:
- Get dressed, mother! Come with me! He took a small sleigh and they went to
lake. Baruchi says:
- I will tell Sihio that you are my shaitan. Get on all fours on the sled!
The old woman got down on all fours, Baruchi bandaged her face. Sikhio came and also brought a sleigh. Baruchi tells him:
- Look, Sikhio, here is my shaitan. Now show me yours.
Sihio showed a man made of wood - a sed.
“Now we will talk to the shaitans,” said Baruchi. “I will be the first to ask: “Tell me, shaitan, whose networks are these - Sikhio’s or my father’s?” Tell the truth!”
The old woman here says:
- Ooh! These are Father Baruchi's old networks!
- Well, Sikhio, do you hear? Shaitan said that these are my networks. Now ask your shaitan.
Sihio asked Shaitan several times, but he doesn’t have a mouth - how will he speak?
Here Baruchi says:
- So, it’s my truth!
Sihio went home, and Baruchi took all the fish out of the nets. When Sihio was no longer visible, he untied his mother. They loaded a whole sled with fish and went home.
