Dervish Barbari, under the guise of a student, regularly attended weekly meetings of a certain false Sufi who imagined that he was teaching the true Path. Every time the dervish appeared at a meeting, he asked the supposed Sufi a ridiculous question. After the dervish had tricked him several hundred times, the false teacher shouted at Barbari:
“You’ve been coming here for twelve years and all your absurd questions are just variations of the one you just asked!”
“Yes, I know,” said Barbary, “but the pleasure I get from seeing you so irritated is my only drawback.”
