Nasreddin was invited to give a sermon to the residents of a neighboring village. He climbed onto the pulpit and said:
- Oh people, do you know what I will talk to you about? Several rowdies, wanting to have fun, shouted that they didn’t know.
“In that case,” said the Mulla with dignity, “I will refrain for now from trying to educate such ignoramuses.”
The following week, the village elders, having secured assurances from the hooligans that they would no longer interfere with the matter with their remarks, again invited Nasreddin to visit them.
- Oh people! - Mulla began again, - do you know what I will talk to you about?
Some of those. at whom Nasreddin looked especially fiercely, they did not know how to react to this, and muttered: “Yes.”
“In that case, I have nothing to tell you,” Nasreddin said sharply and left the hall.
After persistent requests to make another attempt, Nasreddin visited the village again and again appeared before the crowd.
- Oh people! Do you know what I will talk to you about? Since it seemed to everyone that Mullah was waiting for an answer, people shouted: “Some of us know, and some of us don’t!”
“In that case, let those who know tell those who don’t know about it,” Nasreddin said, getting ready to leave.
