At sea - as on land

At sea - as on land

One day a strong storm began at sea. The sailing boat was tossed from side to side. The passengers, huddled together, began to pray to Allah for salvation. And Mulla Nasreddin, having climbed into a secluded corner, calmly smoked his pipe.

Finally the storm subsided, the danger passed, and the ship moored to the shore.

“Listen, Mulla, weren’t you afraid when we were all trembling with fear?” — one of the passengers asked curiously.

- Why be afraid?

“What, didn’t you see that during the storm we were just a stone’s throw away from death?”

- True, but doesn’t this happen on land? - Nasreddin answered, laughing.
