One man sent his son to military service. Years have passed. My son returned from service, but not alone. In front of the father stood two guys who looked exactly alike. Both vying with each other shouted to the old man - I am your son! - No, I'm your son!
And no matter how closely the old man looked at them, he could not recognize who the real son was and who was impersonating him. Then the old man took them and went to Arzha Borzhi Khan, hoping for the intelligence and justice of the khan.
Khan, without hesitation, promised to find out which of the two was the real son. And he turned to his doubles:
- Come on, tell me your father’s pedigree. How many of you remember the names of your grandfather, great-grandfather, ancestors? The first listed the names of ancestors up to the tenth generation. The second only knew the names of his grandfather and great-grandfather.
Arzha Borji Khan announced - old man, your son is the one who remembers the family tree in ten tribes.
The old man thanked the khan and went home. Both guys kept up with him. The one who did not remember the pedigree cried bitterly. Soon they climbed a hill, and there was a girl sitting there. She asked:
- Who are you? And why is this guy crying?
The old man said:
“I sent one son to serve as a nuker, but two returned. I couldn’t find out which of them was my real son, so I went to the khan, and he helped me.
- Why are you crying? — the girl asked the guy.
I, I am his own son, but I don’t remember the pedigree, since I served for many years, I forgot.
The girl said:
- I will help you, baabai, to distinguish which of them is your son. And she told the guys:
- Move away and run here. Whoever gets there first must jump into my clay bottle,” the girl pulled out a small bottle from behind her back. Whoever enters it first is the son of this man.
The guys moved away and ran back. The guy who remembered ten generations immediately got ahead of the second, and was the first to reach the bottle and climbed into it. Another came running out of breath and couldn’t even get his hand into the neck. The girl plugged the cork and said:
- This is the devil-sholmos. He wanted to become your son, he deceived both you and the khan.
The old man and his son began to warmly thank the girl and ran to the khan.
Arzha Borzhi Khan, having learned that the sholmos had deceived him, became angry and ordered the devil to be burned along with the bottle.
Khan decided to find out who this smart girl was and sent for her, but she was no longer there. Then the khan ordered to excavate the hill. From it came a golden throne with thirty-two steps. On each step stood two guards made of silver.
Arzha Borzhi decided to sit on the throne, but when he ascended the first step, the sentries came to life and began to push the khan down. The unlucky khan fell into the mud. Approaching the stairs from the side, the khan read that this was the throne of Ukhin-tengeri - the heavenly maiden, mistress of fate. Only the one who, while rising, will sit on it and tell one uliger on each step - a fairy tale to each guard.
And whoever ascends the throne will become the ruler of Zambi Tubi - the entire earth, and after death - the heavenly khan in the country of Ukhin-tengeri.
Khan went to the throne, telling the uligers. He had to tell 64 uligers, and the khan, having told 63, could not remember any more. Then the upper guards grabbed him and began to beat him. Then they handed it over to the guards on the 31st step, and so on. Each guard beat the poor khan, and in this way they brought him down the stairs. Afterwards, the khan died from such beatings. And that girl was Ukhin-tengeri - the mistress of fate. She rarely helped people; more and more misfortunes came from her. But still, she is one of the eastern evil tengrins, from whom there was at least a little good.
