Another time, Veles was born to Zemun Korova's daughter Amelfa along with her sister Altynka. His father was the sun god Surya-Ra himself.
When Veles and Altynka were little, Amelfa let them learn to read and write and they read in the Vedas that in ancient times, the Svarozhichi and Dyevichi freed the cloud cows from Viy’s captivity, and then the Svarozhichi took them for themselves. But those cows are the sisters of their mother Amelfa, and therefore Veles and Altynka decided to return them.
They drove the cloud-cows from Iriy to Mount Azov. Svarog and Svarozhichi did not tolerate such self-will. Dazhbog gave chase and wanted to take the cows from Veles. But when he heard his song and playing the magic harp, he forgot about everything in the world and exchanged those cows for the harp of the god Veles.
Veles learned to play the harp and sing from Vyshny and Zhiva. And people marveled at his art and said:
