A long time ago, during the old life, Ammalyo lived. She was a girl then and lived with her parents.
One day they were all sleeping, and suddenly a whistler came to their yaranga. Where Ammalyo sleeps, I looked behind the curtain. She got very scared, screamed, and started calling her parents. The family heard it, woke up, and the whistler ran away.
Ammalyo's father said to his daughter:
“I’ll give you in marriage, otherwise, you see, the whistler wants to take you as his wife.”
Ammalyo did not want to get married. She flatly refused. I didn't listen to my father.
One day Ammalyo went to the tundra to pick berries. There the whistler caught up with her, grabbed her, put her on a reindeer and took her far away. Ammalyo began to live there. I prepared food for the whistlers. They eat, go into the tundra, Ammalyo say:
- Don't run home. We will find you anyway and take you away.
A little time passed, and Ammalyo began to miss home and her parents very much. I started crying. One day, getting up in the morning, she began to cook food and make tea. When I cooked the meat, I performed shamanism. I enchanted the meat. I prepared the food and woke up the whistlers:
- Well, the food is cooked, eat.
They got up and started eating. We ate a hearty meal right away and fell asleep for many days.
Ammalyo began to get ready to go home. I went on foot. I lost my way and sat down to rest. Suddenly Ammalyo hears from afar: someone is riding on a deer. She hid in a crevice. While she was hiding, a deer jumped out. Ammalyo lost consciousness from fear.
A horseman on a deer rode past. Ammalyo got up and ran along the road again. Then I heard the noise again of someone riding a deer. Hid among the stones. A horseman rode over the stones. I got scared again. He drove by, and Ammalyo immediately ran home.
The whistler did not find her. I came home. The parents were very happy. The father said: “Now listen! I’ll give you in marriage. If you refuse, the whistlers will take you away forever.”
I listened to Ammalyo. Got married. They migrated to another village. They began to live well there.
