The Winged One lived on earth, flew like a bird, and devoured people. No one could defeat the Winged One.
One day a boy was born among the people, who was given the name Agda. Agdy grew up and told people that he was not afraid of the Winged One, that he would fight him and kill him. But no one believed it. On the contrary, everyone dissuaded Agdy: There is no way to defeat the Winged One, he flies like a bird, and therefore there is no need to touch him.
Agdy did not listen to anyone. I went wandering. Visited eight tribes, spoke with eight powerful women. The women promised to get together and make big iron wings for him. But this could only be in three years. Agdy was looking forward to this deadline.
The appointed time came, and the women made iron wings for him. Agdy put them on and after seven years he learned to fly. At exactly twenty years of age he flew to look for the Winged One.
Agdy was flying over the forest, saw an old woman and asked her:
- Grandma, do you know where Winged One lives?
- Why do you need it?
“I want to fight him and kill him.”
- No, I won’t tell you where he is. What kind of warrior are you?..
Agdy got angry, rattled his wings and flew on. I saw a partridge, stopped and asked her. She says:
“I know, but I don’t have time to talk to you: I’m looking for food for myself.”
Agdy got angry and flew on. I met an old man.
- Grandfather, do you know where the Winged One lives?
“I know,” answered the old man. - Why do you need it? Agdy told why he was looking for the Winged One.
Then the old man says:
“Show me, well done, your strength, then I will show you the way to the Winged One, otherwise I’m afraid of him: he is very strong and flies like a bird.”
- How can you show me your strength, grandfather?
- Now, if you break seven large trees growing in a row, then I will see your strength!
Agdy rose above the forest, waved, rattled his wings, launched fiery lightning and split seven large trees into splinters.
“Now I know your strength,” said the old man,
- you are a hero. Listen. Far from here there is a large swamp, through which neither man nor deer has ever crossed. Behind this swamp is a forest, and in that forest lives the Winged One; you fly and be careful.
Agdy left the good old man. He flew over the taiga, found a swamp, and flew over it. I saw the yurt of the Winged One... He swooped in, rattled his wings... Shot fiery arrows...
The Winged One’s yurt was on fire. The Winged One himself was writhing in the fiery flame. But then he turned into a bird... and flew to the sky. Agdy chased after him...
Since then, Agdy has been flying across the sky, rattling her wings, shooting fiery arrows to kill the Winged One. He flies on wings that women made for him.
